Our Occupational Therapy Driver Assessments help determine if a person is medically and functionally safe to drive.

We assess physical, cognitive, and visual skills, and provide recommendations to support safe driving or alternative options.

OTDA Referral

Our Assessments Include:

Evaluation of driving-related skills

Advice on modifications or adaptive equipment

Referral for driving rehab or lessons (if needed)

Support for individuals, families, and health professionals

Our experienced OT Driver Assessor complete both off-road and on-road assessments, reviewing:

What's Involved?

Assessment includes two parts:

1. Off-road (clinical) assessment

Completed by the OT, covering:

Medical and Driving history

Physical testing

Vision testing

Cognitive screening

Road Rules testing

2. On-road assessment

Completed jointly with the OT and a qualified driving instructor in a dual-control vehicle.

Physical abilities

Strength, movement, coordination, and reaction time.
